Biography

Ransome is one of the best-known children’s authors. Although not prolific in the manner of Enid Blyton or Elinor Brent-Dyer, the twelve books of the Swallows and Amazons series still capture the imaginations of children today due to their unique blend of fantasy and realism and good old-fashioned adventure.

Arthur Ransome was also a journalist and spent a great deal of time in Russia and its environs, producing a number of non-fiction titles. As evidenced by the Swallows and Amazons series, AR was also a keen sailor and a number of accounts of this have been published, both by mainstream publishers and also in smaller print runs by the Arthur Ransome Society.
